Cool Hand Luke is sentenced to a stretch on a chain gang after having been arrested for drunkenly decapitating parking meters.
While in prison he figures out a way to get the work done in half the
usual time, in doing do giving the rest half of the day off.He escapes
from prison time and time again while at the same time becoming the
hope of all the prisoners
