Far and Away is a classic American Dream movie where Joseph Donelly (Tom Cruice) an Irish tenant farmer who recently lost both his father and his home to the agents of his mean landlord. As always (and this one of the many reasons why I deeply love my awesome, God-blessed country) he looks to America for hope, not only does he get on a boat to cross the Atlantic in his journey but he does it with the landlords daughter. After a series of set backs and difficulties they eventually work their way out West, where Joseph must fight to realize his dream and claim a piece of land for himself.-Just Conservative's Take-Though the story is harsh at times, they do eventually manage to be free, to be Americans! People like this built our great nation, how sad it is to see that the world, just for being poor and needy, feels entitled to what our fathers fought and died for! Sure, we as Americans love helping the poor and needy people of the world; but when they demand it and later complain about everything else, things get very upsetting. To wrap it up, Far and Away portrays (in a fairly well done way) the attitude of immigrants coming to america in past centuries, however, the late 20th and 21st century immigrant is a demanding, America-hating (through and through), law-breaking, liberal activist! although sometimes we do see those America-loving, law-abiding, God-fearing rugged individuals arrive, and how thankful are we for them!
