Little Women

Little Women, the Beloved Novel by Louisa May Alcott, has come alive in this 1994 classic movie about four sisters living in cold and poor times during the civil war. Staring, (Winona Ryder), (Claire Danes), (Kirsten Dunst), (Trini Alvarado) and (Susan Sarandon) Brings a flavor of the March girls to the screen in a way that is beautiful and touching. The struggle in this story starts with the March girls struggling without their father who has joined the Union Army. Joe March, ( Winona Ryder) an idealistic striving writer who is portrayed as the Novels Author herself. The four sisters learn to survive life's struggles and overcome them by keeping their minds well fed. The march sisters love to put on wild theatrical plays and keep a daily pick wick paper that they all write in. Jo takes her writing seriously and strives to publish her work. Lourie, (Christian Bale) The rich neighbor moves in next door, brings character and change in the girls lives. Little women is a very good version of the book but has its own flavor that brings the book closer to our lives and minds. The family in this movie is one that portrays honor for wisdom, and for the father and the mother. I love how family is probably the most important value in the movie. The one anti christian, anti american objection is a small undercurrent of Feminism portrayed by Mrs. March which is not in the book.
