A Midnight Clear (1992)
A Midnight Clear is the story of a group of American Soldiers who are entrenched behind enemy lines in war torn Germany. Having been sent to occupy a rural farmhouse, the soldiers readily discover they are not alone. They share the sector with a tiny group of enemy soldiers. As time goes on, fatigue, boredom, and anxiety get the better of the soldiers, and they begin to contact with eachother. Eventually harmless pranks turn to friendship. The film presents in an unusual way why war is futile and heartbreaking. After exchanging Christmas presents and Christmas Cheer, the American's and Germans hatch an unlikely plan to bring peace to their small region of the Ardennes Forest - with life-changing consequences.
This film is recommended by many to be a conservative one, and while to me there are many more conservative ones, this particular one should be left at your own discretion. Movie history will only prove.
