The Rookie, based on a true story of Jim Morris ( Dennis Quaid ) who's dream was to have a successful career in major league baseball. He was disappointed 12 years earlier because of a pitching injury after his shoulder gave out. Now Jim all grown up is living the regular life in a small town in Texas, married with two children, and teaching/coaching at the local high school. Jim has made a bargain with his baseball team to motivate them to try to play a better game and to challenge them to make it nationals, his part in the bargain is to try out for a major league pitcher. The team ended up wining and heading to Nationals. Jim, now a middle aged man, must honor his agreement to pursue his lifetime dream. Having to get over the feeling of being too old for the sport, his arm proves that he is still as strong as his younger teammates. Being just 'The Rookie,' Jim proves to have a very serious pitching speed, which is the start of his career in the major leagues. A very good family entertainment movie suitable for everyone. With a small town feeling and two good role model parents making this film not just a sports movie, but a story for those who don't even understand the game of baseball.
