Do you
remember yourself as a

kid playing with those fun
animation flip books? All the drawings in the book had to be perfectly
drawn to match the movements on the pages before and after. Did you
ever make one yourself? Did you ever finish it? I didn't, it was always
so hard for me to draw slight changes for every picture in every frame;
so I finally gave up and asked mom if she'd buy me one of those
pre-made ones. -Wish I hadn't given up though... It takes a lot
patience to do that, and I was not good at drawing.
What is the point of those books anyway?

I suppose parents like them for
their children to make them creative or something like that; every now
and then I still see children doodling around with them which is kind
of strange in this day and age of the 'computer'. Nonetheless, they
still buy them and use them. Some parents are problably hoping their
child will one day produce the next big animation block buster.
What are animation movies anyway?
well, we've just defined them in the previous paragraph. The concept
remains the same but only the method of making these films has changed.
Without a doubt one can't think of animated films without thinking
about the pioneers in the industry during the late 1800's and early
1900's; Winsor McCay (Considered America's greatest cartoonist), Pat
Sullivan Studios and Walt Disney who created the first and most famous
animation movies the world ever saw. These men sure did not give up the
flip books. Among their greatest works were Dreams of the Rarebit
Fiend, the Felix the Cat episodes and in November 18, 1928 Mickey Mouse
was born.
These giants in cinematographic

and movie animation history
unleashed an avalanche of cartoonists who had only one goal in mind, to
get their drawings on film. Viola! A whole branch of the film industry
was created. And it was not long before they realized that animation
movies were not just for children but for everyone and could appeal to
all kinds of interests.
This is the reason why today animated films are not limited to one sort
of genre; to be sure, animated films are not a strictly or purely
defined genre category, but rather a way or technique of telling a
story through animation.
* This a good reason why a parent should always be vigilant about
"children's" movies or cartoons their kids are watching
