Movies Genre Description |
Squealing getaway car tires, screams, chases, screeching brakes,
gunshot noise getting lost in the sounds of the world's busiest city;
such are the exploits of swaggering, cruel, wily, tough, law-defying,
materialistic, street-smart, immoral, megalomaniacal, and
self-destructive bootleggers.

A very familiar scene in your typical american crime movie thrilling
audiences all over the globe for over one hundred years.
Neither D. W. Griffith nor Raoul Walsh who are 2 of the most renown
names in early Crime Movies cinema could have ever imagined the the
success movies such as The Musketeers of Pig Alley (1912) or The
Regeneration (1915) would have in the coming years, nor could have they
imagined the prolific industry they would help pave.
While these gangsters or ruthless hoodlums themselves are the
reflection of some of what is worse in every level of our society,
we've never failed to see in them or those around them, the light at
the end of the tunnel.
And we as the audience consider it a happy
ending when hooligans and lawless men either reform, show sings of
change, or, if unrepentant, they are caught and given the punishment
deserved.
Also at times the director decides to use (and show) the lives of these
men to illustrate to the audience where the lifestyle usually leads. A
classic example of this is seen in Angels With Dirty Faces (1938).
Self-destuction in these characters is easy to see even without much
help from the director. It sure helps when the audience does have his
help though!
Those types of films are becoming more and more scarce as
time goes by and I suspect the trend will continue in the in the coming
years.
We don't know what has caused this nor it is our job to figure it out,
our job is to give you the tools you need when choosing the right Crime
Movies for and your family.
It is worth here to mention that some
directors think that portraying gangster movies and their characters as
"cool" as well as role models is somehow good. Well, may be, we will
give them the benefit of the doubt but not when Crime Movies influence
our youth into thinking it is somehow "cool".
As mentioned before it is usually easy to see where the path of
criminals ends up, and there is nothing wrong in seeing it on the big
screen, but sometimes a little guidance is a lot of help.
