| Action
and Adventure Genre Description |
Welcome
to our Action and Adventure movies page where, if you like to watch
stuff be blown up or someone struggle his way back into civilization
after having been thrown into some faraway jungle, you'll feel right at
home!
In a world filled with exciting and adventurous people film
makers are realizing that entertaining people in this fashion takes a
lot more work than it used to.
Why? because we want to see more! that
is just the plain fact, more is best and I think you'll agree that
hardly any explosion is big and loud enough or stunt dangerous enough,
or even heroes heroic enough.... right?
But for the most part Hollywood
does a good job in this genre, they seem to get it as far as the cool
stuff goes; as for the plot, that's where most of the trouble at the
box office lies.
Most
people, as you know, live vicariously the lives of the characters in
these movies for a couple of hours.
One day you may be a car racer ( as
in 'The Fast and the Furious') and the
other you may end up as the the
president of the United States himself (through Harrison Ford in Air
Force One).
So, what makes a good action and adventure movie?
Let's
define the two genres first, Action and Adventure movies are in most
cases a cross over of each other.
They also include many other genres
such as thrillers, crime, war, westerns, sci-fi, among others. But if
we are going to purely define the them both it would sound something
like this,
A film that has a continuous high level of energy,
complicated stunts and other activities of such nature, chases,
battles, disasters of all natures, explosions, historical figures,
explorations, conquests, etc; and don't forget our heroes again!
The
only difference between the two is that in action movies the main focus
is on the explosions, stunts, etc. while in adventure movies the focus
is on the set itself as well as the circumstances around it such
as
you would find in
explorations,
travels, and so on.
Second.
The
plot. In order
for any movie to
be good and lasting, it has to have a great plot; something that most
people will like, relate to or feel familiar with.
The main character
or characters have to possess certain traits or values clearly
portrayed. Interested in knowing what the it factor in a plot is???
